Hello everybody,
After the success of our crowdfunding campaign in January 2021, I’m reaching out to inform you all about the progress of the project. First of all, thank you again for your donations! With the funds we’ve raised, we were able to purchase a new tabletop pottery wheel. In addition, we’ve commissioned a table, a small stool and hand-sewn embroidered aprons, all made by local artisans. And finally, we’ve also purchased lots of tools to shape, mould and sculpt our ceramics.
NEXT STEP
The Ban Workshop is in the process of expansion: we are looking for a new home to set up our glazing studio and to open our boutique. For this, the remainder of the donations will be used. We will keep you informed when we have found the ideal space, in the meanwhile, we will continue to visit potential spaces.
We are also happy to announce that we have partnered with Institut Français of Dakar to conduct a series of four workshops, in collaboration with the girls of the Lycée d’Excellence Mariama Bâ. The works made during these workshops will be exhibited at the school on Goree Island at the end of May.

Bonjour tout le monde,
Après la belle réussite de notre campagne de financement participatif de janvier 2021, comme promis je vous informe sur les avancées du projet. Grâce à vos dons, nous avons pu nous fournir d’un tour de table pour lequel nous avons fait faire une table et petit tabouret chez notre menuisier. Nous avons aussi fait confectionner une belle panoplie de tabliers cousus et brodés à la main dans un atelier de couture du quartier. Et pour finir, Nous avons acheté plein d’outils pour façonner, modeler et sculpter nos confections.
PROCHAINE ÉTAPE
Le Ban Workshop est en voie d’expansion : nous cherchons de nouveaux locaux pour installer notre studio d’émaillage et ouvrir notre boutique. C’est pour cette étape que la majeure partie des dons seront utilisés. Nous vous tiendrons informé au moment venu, pour l’instant, on continue de visiter des lieux.
Par ailleurs, nous sommes aussi heureux de vous annoncer nous avons été subventionné par l’Institut Français de Dakar pour mener une série de quatre ateliers en collaboration avec les filles du Lycée d’Excellence Mariama Bâ. La restitution des ateliers sera présentée sur l'île de Gorée pour une exposition qui aura lieu fin mai.
